ML Museum Liaunig

Tis museum, housing the extensive private art collection of Herbert Liaunig, was intended to attract visitors and allow contemplative enjoyment of art removed from all urban centers with a minimal budget and the lowest possible operational costs. For cots reasons and to optimize the energy concept, 95 percent of the cubature is located underground. Visitors enter the museum via the generously proportioned display repository area, the “wine cellar of art”, and reach the bright, centrally located main hall. As a counterpoint to the contemplative enjoyment of art, the visitors discover dramatic climaxes by intensely focusing on the landscape, which never giver the impression of being underground.
